A German Accent #1

In the “A German Accent” series, the portuguese duo Internal Sync invite their german labels to share the DJ booth with them. Kritik Records from Berlin, kicked off these nights, featuring label boss Pelle Boi, and the german-portuguese DJ/music critic Carlos de Brito (Motor Brot). The label released in November 2007 Internal Sync’s EP “Ghost and Bubbles EP”. with two tracks and one remix (Lowtec from Workshop label).

So, who’s Pelle Boi, and what’s Kritik Records?
Once upon a time, it must have been in 2004, Oliver Koletzki and Pelle Boi met in a tiny bar in Berlin Friedrichshain. Two weeks later the first two tracks were done. Looking for the right platform to release them, they decided to found their own label: Kritik Records was born. Soon, the first 350 records of “Mückenschwarm/Ich fand die Liebe im Plattenbau” were sold out. Thanks to the playlist of a certain Sven Väth, who later licensed “Mückenschwarm”. It became a huge hit and can be found on more than twenty compilations and mixed CDs. Oliver wanted to things own his own and Pelle continued releasing and working on Kritik Records. In 2007 he teamed up with a talent young cat called c.l.i.c., which latest release was commented by Laurent Garnier with the words: “this will be BIG!”

With Internal Sync Kritik Records is happy to announce its first international signing from Lisbon/Portugal.

The musical repertoire of Kritik is simple: it’s electronic music for dancing people. No genres, no boundaries. Either Techno or House or Minimal or even Disco: it has to get people moving! As simple as that

What about Carlos de Brito?
Carlos de Brito, born in Germany with portuguese roots, has been djing for roundabout 8 years and is writing for german music magazines Spex and Groove. He’s been spinning regularly in various german cities with peepz like Kiki, Marcus Worgull, Ben Mono, Harry Swinger etc., mainly in Siegen (where he had his own clubnight – www.abfahrt-weidenau.de), but also a lot in Cologne and Berlin, where he’s living now (again). His style is elusive and surprising, he plays everything from leftfield disco, deep house, dirty detroit stuff and minimal techno.
